14th Annual Community Arts Party

Yesterday was the 14th Annual Community Arts Party [nmtpas.org], and it was also the first one I've been to in a long time without running my duct tape roses table. In fact I've done that table every year since I was 16, and I think it might have been missed.

I'm a little tired of the duct tape roses though, does anyone have an idea for something else I could teach people to make out of colored duct tape?

Better window shade finished!

I just finished laying out the paper on my superior window shade. It's very exciting, although I haven't had the chance to see any of those sunbeams I was talking about during the planning phase, because I finished it at night.

Framing finished on my window shade

I just finished the framing on my superior window shade. With that all out of the way I just have to put in the rice paper or whatever nice things I come up with to put in the panels.

That might have to wait until next weekend though, because I believe the paper store is closed on Sundays and I'm going to be in Colorado from Monday until Thursday.

I can't wait to come home and finish this puppy off!

A superior window shade

I started work today on what will eventually be a replacement for the current blinds of my bedroom window.

The idea is to have a panel covering the entire window, broken into a lattice of irregular panels, each of which will be filled with a different material. It should wind up looking something like a Mondrian painting, but made of light.

There's also one hinged panel at the top right corner that can be opened to let in sunbeams.

Some of you may have had the impression that I'm some sort of professional nomad/crazy-person.  Believe it or not though, I hold down a nine-to-five at the New Mexico Lottery as a graphic designer.
